Would finding out the truth about a situation, in which the “facts” you have already heard for years, turned out to be false, would you still believe them? After learning about the great deal of all the paradigms, the one that struck me very interesting is social conflict. What if everything we see in the news talking about serious crimes all over the country are just a way for each medium to help shape different aspects of modern society? As an American citizen, how can we truly know what to believe anymore. Every source of media has been publicly mocked and discredited by our president and other major political figures. The way I view society, I would say we strongly resemble that of a society which combines both the dramaturgical analysis and social exchange paradigm. I say this because the way I look at the problems were facing, we act as pawns in the larger argument. When we are all so busy arguing with one another, nobody is available to bring the real problems to those who should be argued with about them. The social exchange paradigm is also relevant because today not many people are truly willing to take a few moments of their time to help someone In need, due to possibly not being compensated for it.

Something that I can do to better myself and society would be to not allow technology to control my entire life. Weather or not it’s by not using facebook, twitter, vsco or other apps too frequently, but also not allowing technology to do my basic everyday needs for me. Something I could potentially do to harm myself and society would to stop allowing myself to be open minded. I say this because once you become close minded, it’s near impossible to make a connection while having a debate or argument.

Something society could do to benefit me in a better way is if everyone started to think with sociological perspective and realizing what’s truly going wrong on Earth. If everyone opened their eyes to other possibilities the world would be able to have affordable healthcare, affordable college tuition, far more advanced education, plus economies would sky rocket because people would have a purpose again. However, society and possibly harm me by doing the exact opposite. By allowing social conflict and other paradigms to be used in the media in negative way, it ultimately may hurt more than society just for myself.

Hypothetically, something we could do to change these problems would be by having news outlets spread truthful, and even sometimes happy stories.
